Food is acceptable, with a nice variety. Often needlessly loud. They're ok with sitting infants next to smokers. When we ask them to reseat us, they have us go back to the hostess, but they did reseat us quickly. Under a speaker...

Feels like a "Hooters"....on the water. Pleasant outdoor seating. The waitstaff was a little clueless....it took a village for sure. The conch fritters were great. Blackened Mahi taco was OK.... fish was well cooked, could have used a bit of acid and heat. Fried Shrimp salad looked good.... shrimp was over cooked but the array of fresh mango and pinapple was fresh and very tasty. Looks like a fun place to go at night ( we were there for lunch)....sit at the outdoor bar and have some umbrella cocktails while listening to some live music.

View can't save this one.. This restaurant is right next to Two Georges on the intracoastal. Unfortunately, the food is even worse and the clientele is even older. I have been here a few times and just have not been happy. Last time I came it was pretty late, so they do offer a late night bar snacks menu. My drunken love and our friend seemed perfectly content with those options. Go figure :) Between here or Two Georges, I'll pick Two Georges every time.

What better way to kick off a Friday night than to sit out on the dock and have a couple drinks? The wait was longer than expected since the boat parade was going on as well. I had to go to the hostess three times to see if they "forgot" about us. An hour doesn't consist of 25 minutes. The place was busy, but it's a fail if a manager is telling people that they have to wait a couple hours while we were told a half hour. Anyway, we ended up getting seated and had a delicious dinner. I raved over the baby back ribs and my mom loved her steak. The banana coffee isn't something that is offered every day, so I decided to try it and it was delicious. Maybe the next visit will be less time waiting and more time to enjoy the place.

Hard to deal with the staff. No one knows what they are doing. Had a reservation "on the water" for the boat parade..they didn't say it was on the side and could not see the boats. Very misleading. Parking was horrible, and the staff is frazzled and rude. Yes, this was a holiday event but not worth it at all. The place itself is kind of old and rickety, not a good feeling there and I can see why some of their other ventures closed down (Fifth Ave Grill) They were also hard to deal with.

The meal was fine...not great by any stretch...but passable. Avoid the bay scallops, but coconut shrimp was pretty good. Restaurant has kitchen challenges. We had to have them cook a kid burger three times to get it right...kept sending it out undercooked. The table next to us had issues with cold food. This wouldn't be on my list of places to revisit but it is better then Two George's which is right across the harbor.

Happy hour ONLY at the bar...not if you are sitting anywhere else, even if there are no seats at the bar. Offered one beer special...of course after I order it they don't have any. They offered no other choices other than $5.00 bottled domestic. They have a nice location...although very little parking unless of course you want to PAY for valet parking which is the same small lot just the other half. Starting to see a theme here $$$$. Will not be back!

We live and work in Palm Beach County. We enjoy waterside dining year round. We usually avoid the Banana Boat due to hassles of one sort or another over the years but when family are in town they like to try different restaurants. Today we thought we would give it another try. Food was fine, the waitress was very accommodating and professional, unfortunately we got off to a bad start as soon as we were seated. It was hot and were seated near the railing but due to sun shining on a portion of the table, we wanted to move, so we looked around and saw a table we sat in before...one with a much needed fan pointed in its direction on a hot September day in South Florida. It was a table for six but since we were only 4, the young woman seating us refused us that table. Now, on a crowded day, I would understand, but this was a slow day and she continued to refuse. So, grudgingly, we moved to a table of four and I swore once again to not return. There were several tables for six and not a one was filled while we were there. So, to accommodate a possible party of six that might show up ( and never did), a paying party of four was not. We love to eat out, pay our money, eat a nice meal and not get annoyed. I guess if that's what we want it's back to Two Georges for us. It's easy, good, relaxing and they have the best French fries in town.

This place still sucks!! First time I have been back in years and now I remember why.. The Service Sucks!! The Food Sucks!!! I paid $36 for a crappy crab cake tower, mushy rice & a horrible Mojito... I will not come back here again... Oh and if you do decide to come here sitting outside is nice on the water but they have this issue with the tables being very sticky so if you like a nice view with a sticky table sit outside otherwise I would dine indoors....

The food is so good, ESP THE COLESLAW!!!!!! The Philly Cheese Steak! The steak is so tender. The service.. Those girls work their little butts off. The bartenders on the other hand, Some of those bartenders are just as rude as can be. If you are young and don't look like you can afford a drink there, they will take FOREVER TO serve you!!! You literally have to wave dollars to get their attention some times. And if you watch carefully, they are not nice to the servers either! They take their sweet ass time helping them out too. Which isn't very cool if you are the table that server is waiting on! I know, because I used to work there.

The food is good, especially the filet mignon . But the music is too loud and the smoking on the patio outside dining area makes the dinner less enjoyable. The alternative is eating inside. But you don't need to drive to the intra coastal to dine inside. The service is poor and very slow. I don't think the owners are interested in the dining area as much as they are interested in the bar area. That is where the money is made. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is concerned about their hearing or their lungs.

Come for the view, stay for dessert. Standard seafood situated on the beautiful Boynton Beach intracoastal. The blackened Mahi sliders with cilantro lime tartar sauce were delicious. However, our other selections - crab-stuffed tilapia and the grilled chicken for kids - were merely average. Dessert was fantastic though: Godiva dark chocolate mousse, and only $5.95 to boot. Live music on weekends and clientele a la In Her Shoes. Will try Two Georges across the waterway next time...

I had my husbands 80 th birthday luncheon at the Banana Boat on 9/16. It was attended by 15 of us and all had only good things to say about the food, service, ambiance and attention given. I couldn't have asked for any better, even the weather complied with a nice breeze. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone. Kudos to our waitresses, the cook, and the manager for being there to help make my husbands birthday more memorable.

Been going here on and off for lunch and drinks for +20 years. an institution. Food and atmosphere pretty good. However, Dinner hour is a nightmare! The hostess and the manager are brain dead & arrogant. They are too cool for school. The classic eventual downfall of any business. A 2.5 star rating for a place this old tells the story.

• Barbara J.

Food is decent. But if you are under 60 yrs old stay away. We finished our meal and went to Two George's for some cocktails and watch the oldies at the Banana Boat enjoy what I belive was a Tom Jones / Monkees cover band.

Two dishes are good.... Ahi Tuna Salad and the Asian Chicken....Outside is good, music and the boats cruising the InterCoastal makes it nice.... Over priced.....the beers are warm, and the Mojitos are too strong.... OVERWHELMING amount of alcohol and not enough simple syrup...Do yourself a favor and try Two Georges next door.... see my review there....MUCH better

Great waterside view. I like many things on the menu including the burgers, wings and the blackened dolphin. The staff is friendly and fast. There are all sorts of specials and happy hours. My only gripe is that the tvs are so small. It is definetly worth a visit. Oh-and they have breakfast on Sundays. Imagine a lovely waterside Sunday morning breakfast! It doesn't get better!

• Chris O.

This place is terrible. There's an annoying valet parking lot. Everything is overpriced. It gets crowded with "bro" types. The only thing it has going for it is it's on the water. But then you're on the water dealing with a crowd of bro's. Dreadful.

I went on a Friday night. The kitchen was closed so I had sampled bar food - fish tacos ($11), calamari ($8), fried shrimp ($8). And the verdict? The fish tacos, the priciest of the three, was the worst. It was made with store-bought flour tortillas, fried chunks of fish that is reminiscence of Long John Silver, and hardly anything else. Accompanied with soggy french fries. Just downright horrible. The fried shrimp also tasted like it came from Long John Silver... am I seeing a recurring theme here? This is definitely not the pride of South Florida. The calamari was the best of the three and it was okay. But I wouldn't trust anything else. The drinks were alright, however. And the service was okay. I didn't see "trashy" women waiting tables but then again I was there late at night. I don't think I would come back - the atmosphere isn't really anything special. It's probably nicer to go in the daytime.

I would give this place a two based on the food, but added another star because of the location along the water. I did for a little bit smell the exhaust from boats going by, but was not horrible to deal with. I did not see any cockroaches, which I was thankful for. This is one place where it is hard to eat healthy. I ended up ordering chicken salad sandwich that came with french onion soup and fruit salad. My pita literally feel apart as I took my first few bites and my chicken salad went all over my plate, not cool. The chicken salad was very creamy which I thought had too much mayo, etc in. It was plain and boring. Sadly, my french onion soup was the best part of meal even though it was a small cup. The last part was the fruit that was not good whatsoever. It came with grapes, cantaloupe, pineapple and watermelon. Everything was very hard, especially my cantaloupe. Are these supposed to be like rock solid? It may have just been old fruit, stopped eating it after I couldn't taste much. My Dad ended up ordering a chicken pita, a little different type from mine. The problem with his is that nowhere on the menu did it say it was fried... He was not happy because we are trying to eat healthy. Service was fine and food was blah. The view is the best part.

This was the second time eating there with the girlfriend's grandparents who really like it there. The good: The views of the water are fantastic and the servers are friendly and eager to refill drinks. The fish tacos I ordered this time were great, not authentic, but tasted great and the sauce on them was really good. The not so good: It took a really long time for our food to come, like a half hour from when we ordered and it wasn't that busy. The grouper sandwich that I ordered on my first visit that was supposed to be one of their specialities, was extremely bland. I'd go back for the view I guess but there are tons of restaurants in south florida with similar views.

Have been there a number of times and keep going back. I grew up on the water and this place just makes me want to go out on a boat with a banana pina colada. The food and service are great and I always feel refreshed by the time I leave. I highly recommend it!

(4)
• Chantel G.

The view is awesome, but the food is not great. The menu really needs some flare, with fresh ingredients the food should be better. Service is hit or miss, I have had great service and have also been completely ignored even though the restaurant was empty. I prefer to go across the street.

• Steve M.

Haven't been her in some time and now I remember why. Product is tired and feely dirty. Sat at a table only to be told happy hour is only at the bar. We obligingly moved but no great shakes with happy hour drinks - small discount in price. Later moved to table and while service was great, food quality was not. Broiled seafood dinner was bland and barely warm. Not even worth sending back. View of intracoastal and passing boats are nice - but you can't eat that.

This place is hopping on Sunday nights. They have a Raggae band that really gets the people dancing. But... here's the caveat. Most of the people that frequent the Banana Boat are over the age of 60. While you might get a few younger people here and there, the vast majority are older. While this isn't really a bad thing per se, if you are looking for a younger crowd, you might want to try 2 Georges across the way. Food wise, I've had their Mahi-Mahi, and its really good. A bit pricey, but the waterfront seating make up for it. Grab yourself a drink and sit out to watch the boats go by. Thats South Florida. As for the cockroach situation, I've been there a couple of times when the tide comes up, and there is a mass-exodus of cockroaches. This IS Florida, and there isn't really anything you can do about them, especially if you are sitting outside on a wooden dock.

The Banana Boat IS a bit pricey, but the superb food, the outdoor tropical waterfront setting and the friendly & beautiful waitresses make this one excellent place to go. Go check their restaurant inspection reports and you see all good reports, which counts a lot to me. I don't know why anyone would post here saying it's overrun with roaches - they have none. Here's a link and you can see for yourself. I can show you inspection reports revealing roaches in some other restaurants, but the Banana Boat has ZERO. I LOVE the clams casino, $8.95! myfloridalicense.com/ins… Go for lunch - better scenery and easy parking. Check out the great menu! bananaboatboynton.com/me… and here's the great waitstaff - they're terrific, not "trashy".(2006)

My grandparents took us out here again and I'm kinda over it. Yes it is really nice sitting outside on the water, but the service is really slow and the food is meh. This time I got a crab salad pita sandwich, which the menu and waitress both failed to mention was made up almost entirely of fake crab. When we asked the manager or owner about it she said the crab salad was half blue crab / half fake crab and that it would be a lot more expensive if it was all real crab. Well you know what, if you want to serve fake crab fine, but don't deceitfully advertise it as a real crab. People who know food can tell the difference and personally I'd rather pay more then have to eat processed fish that is passed off as crab. My Grandpa didn't know the difference, but that's because he likes fake crab. I don't. On top of that my coleslaw tasted like mold. Yes, mold. Grandma's quiche was tasty but had a soggy crust. I think I'd rather go some where else for lunch next time.

If you are looking to sit on the water.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. 1) I have never seen so many cockroaches at a restaurant EVER. 2) Food was only OK, the prices were not great. 3) Move over Hooters, the girl waitresses at Banana Boat are trashier and less covered. 4) Boat Exhaust in the mouth (didn't compliment my beer) You are better off across the canal at Two Gorges.

HORRIBLE FOOD AND THE WORST WAITRESSES!!! This place is only good for drinks!! BELIEVE me and the other reviews...BANANA BOAT IS A JOKE!! Just tossed $75.00 for crap food and bad attitude. The non-interested waitress takes our order, and my Husband asked if his broiled seafood platter could be 'blackened'...she quickley snapped back, "No special requests, we're too busy". In hind sight, we should have left at that point. We receive our waters and drinks, soon after our overly deep fried calamari arrived. The dipping sauce was tipped to the side and dripping all over. Our entree's arrived, the portions of the broiled seafood platter was for 'kids 12 and under' and incredibly tasteless. The filet mignon was overcooked and probably purchased from Publix. Not once did our waitress walk over and ask how our food was, and that's because she already knows it SUCKS. Not once did she refill our glasses with water! When she saw that we were finished, she walked by and asked if we wanted anything else. I made the mistake of ordering a dessert to go....we should have just left. We waited for almost 15 minutes just to receive our dessert, finally we got up and asked for a manager. The table next to us had problems getting the attention of the same waitress...at one point she had to raise her hand like a 1st grade student! The guy we approached at the bar went to get a manager and also located our dessert (which was ready to go in the back). I decided to wait outside while my Husband took care of the bill. I was then approached by our trashy waitress (oh, and she had another trashy waitress next to her for support..joke) and the nerve of her to ask me if I took care the check!!! Dumb ass, it's being taken care of with your manager. Speaking of managers...he comped our dessert for all of our inconveniences and said he would speak to our waitress. The hostess, servers and dining room manager are the only 'positives' of Banana Boat. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET A DRINK!!!

I wouldn't go here to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night but it wasn't bad. I would do a week night dinner there. I like how it is on the water so it is pretty scenery if you sit outside by the water. The staff/service was good. I got the calamari which was tasty but a bit more greasy then I'm used to. I had ordered a few mixed drinks they were good and strong. I would go back with family. There were a good bit of elderly people there and our table was laughing about things that were getting us glares from the older folks so yeah if you are looking for a more quite meal with nice scenery then here is your place.

I didn't notice it for a while (like 18 years) but the waitresses here look and act like hookers and the food isn't good. Really wondering why my mother brought me here over and over as a child. And no she was not sitting at the bar, jerks. I swear though, the mahi-mahi USED TO BE good when I was 5. I went there last year and the glow was just gone and the place looks so cheesy now so I left. A shame since the location is so neat.

(2)
• Brian R.

A five star location with two star food, which is a shame because, should they send the motley crew of this rancid galley packing and get themselves some people who can cook, this could easily be the hottest restaurant on the coast for 20 miles. The special was a fish that tasted frozen bandaged with a sauce that couldn't take away the rank odor that might even give pause to those who have lost their sense of smell. I got a burger instead, which seems about as much culinary competency as this kitchen's motley crew can dish up. Hey, though! Drinks are cheap here. If you down enough, you may not even notice. Otherwise, the Banana Boat's kitchen sinks this place for me. I'll cruise with better restaurants nearby.

Day - O Day ay ay - O Daylight come and me wan go hooooome. Come Mr. Tally Man Tally me banana....... I have no idea what the F Harry Belafonte was singing about but I didn't want to go home and I definitely wanted me more banana and coconut and I wanted them in a tall glass with booze poured over them. To my fellow northerners who don't leave the state much: We no have these kind of bars in Boston. Let me paint a picture: The Intracoastal waterway is a river that all the boater and rich yacht owners take to cruise from bar to bar or to go out to sea to fish or whatever boat people do.... THIS place is almost in the water. So you sit and watch boats pull up and dock. The other half lives much better than me. I was pretending to be Ernest Hemingway at the bar which is easy, you just drink a lot and pretend that you wrote Old Man and the Sea. There's a Reggae band playing to help with the mood. Everyone was dancing. (even me a little) Really good music. Bob Marley would've been proud ( and probably stoned). We drank drinks called the Dirty Banana, The Coconut Dipstick, the shot of Tequila.....you get the idea. I ate a fish sandwich and the fish actually begged me not to eat it , it was so fresh. (I ate it anyway) There are actual Manatees out in the water. I haven't seen one of those in Boston harbor. oh and plus it's hot. The weather that is. I know why we up North are so freakin uptight. We don't have a vibe like this anywhere. I want one though so look out for my new bar Cappy's Reggae World of Coconuts, Manatees and Booze. I just have to figure out how to make the weather warm all the time. ya mon.

I would have given only two stars a year ago, but have found additional menu items that now warrant 3 1/2 stars. On the Intra-coastal with a nice breeze outside even in hot weather, the setting is 4 stars. Lunch is very popular. In the alternative if it's too hot, too cold, or too wet, there is ample indoor seating. I found the prices reasonable and had an outstanding seared tuna salad last week. Burgers are good - and it's that kind of place. One negative is that when they have music / entertainment it is usually too loud (I guess I'm too old) --- and for sober groups, the volume is better heard across the water at Two George's. I have a group of friends that like to sit at the bar for lunch and look at the endowed bartenders --- who play up to them.

We went here and experienced a disappointing fathers day dinner. The lobster was so terrible and tough, my father was so disappointed. He hadn't been there in years and remembered it being great. The location, however, is beautiful. We would give it a 1 but the beer was good.

Food was a rip. More of a place to drink. On weekend afternoons, older crowd letting loose.

• Scott L.

Another waste of a great location. How this place qualifies as a 'restaurant' is beyond me (and many others). If you desire bland, poorly cooked and presented food, pull up to the Banana Boat trough and have at their swill. I've had tastier dishes in elementary school cafeterias. Like their twin, Two Georges, they should stop impersonating a restaurant, eliminate the kitchen and make more bar space or consider becoming just a marina.

(1)
• Denise P.

Upside might be that there is outside seating by the water, but for me it didn't make up for the fact that it was very crowded and noisy. The food was just ok and priced on the higher end. It seemed like so many other Florida eateries - nothing outstanding about it. Wouldn't recommend it, though I don't have any real complaints.

ate here a couple of times visiting the grandparents. nice to sit outside on the water. only had burgers, which were standard and well prepared. service was decent. great view while eating makes it worthwhile to visit

Food was okay, but the people and yacht watching were great. Music on the outside deck was a pleasant interlude. Lots of regulars and good wait staff. Inconsistent drinks; the barmaid outside made the best Bloody Mary, with two olives and lots of horseradish. My second from the inside bar not so great. The girl outdoors needs to teach the inside staff a thing or two. A pleasant stop on a Sunday drive up A1A with my friend, Vincent.

• Meg W.

I must have been here on an off night (Thanksgiving). The outside area was closed off leaving Eli & I to sit with the less than friendly locals in the main bar area. So much for ambiance. The drinks were strong and priced fairly. We didn't eat here, but rumor has it the food tries to be gourmet (Beef Wellington was the special that night) but fails to titillate a knowledgeable pallet.

• Trencherman H.

this is a restaurant where the food plays second fiddle to the ambiance and view. Don't get me wrong, the food is OK - just not great! But the view and activity from the deck overlooking the Intracostal is really great - beautiful boats, beautiful people. The bar is always hopping and the drinks are very good. Weekdays are quite, but weekend afternoons are hopping and they often have music on the deck. Definitely sit outside, order a couple of drinks, some appetizers and watch the world float past you. Highly recommended!

(5)
• Daisy H.

Way over rated. Valet guys are rude to motorcycle riders. Most bars give bikes preferred parking. Food sucks. The drink prices are steep. Great view but that's it. Two Georges a way better spot. I don't go here anymore.

A fun place for drinks and appetizers....loved sitting outdoors on the water..The music was kinda cool and not blasting..We ordered the pu pu platter, the peel and eat shrimp and artichoke dip...all was good..I had the salmon, it was a bit dry...all in all..it was ok..I will come back, but we will stick to just the drinks and appetizers next time..

I ordered the surf and turf medium rare and it came out medium well to well. The manager "Nikki" came to my table with the worst attitude ever and tries saying she seen my steak and it was med well. Being I'm a regular at prime steakhouses and worked at a steakhouse for over three years I think I know the difference. She was the most rude manger I have met in dining history and would never recommended going to this place because of it. EVER

Good restaurant along the intercostal in Boynton Beach. It's just along the bridge to Ocean Ridge so there are a lot of boats pulling through as you eat. Good was great & service was too. Not very memorable though. View was nice

I went to Banana Boat last night to visit a friend for her birthday. I have always wanted to try it, because I love restaurants on the water. When we got there I noticed that there were two entrances, one to the inside restaurant and one to the outside deck. Of course we sat out on the deck! There was a very large bar on the deck to accommodate plenty of people and enough space for plenty of tables and chairs. We decided to sit at a table to be closer to the water. The view from the deck is very pleasing and relaxing to watch the boats go by. I was told the wait may be a bit, but we were helped right away! The two servers we had were very nice and obliging. The first thing I had to get was the Dirty Banana. The Dirty Banana is their signature mixed drink. It contains Captain Morgan rum, half a banana, cocoa dark liqueur, DeKuyp banana liqueur, and a splash of pina colada. I kid you not when I say that it was one of the best frozen mixed drinks I have ever had! However, I could see this drink being dangerous because it's so tasty and the alcohol is well masked by its great taste. We decided to order the spinach dip and crab cake sliders to snack on. The spinach dip was yummy, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would have preferred if the spinach dip was a bit thicker in consistency. The crab cake sliders were quite delicious. There was a wonderful crispy outside to the crab patty and the crab patty mix was just right. The only thing that would have added to it, is if it came with some type of sauce. It might come with sauce and we just didn't get, but it was good enough without it to not ask. Overall I had a great experience at Banana Boat! The service, atmosphere, food, and drinks were awesome. If you're looking for a place on the water or in Boynton to eat or drink, I would recommend Banana Boat. I'm excited for the next time I go back, and you know I'll be getting that Dirty Banana and an Uber!

We thought our experience at Banana Boat was great. Our waitress, Kelly, was very nice and attentive, and our food was really good. No complaints at all, except it was a little warm inside, but it's 90° outside. Surprised to see such a low rating on Yelp. We enjoyed our Prime Rib, Stuffed Shrimp, and Cheeseburger! And, the Banana Cream Pie was wonderful- one of our favorite desserts anywhere. It was too busy to get outside seating today but we will reserve next time so we can enjoy the breeze and live music. All in all, we liked our visit very much.

I really like this place. It is right on the water and easy to get to. They have a full bar and have good pina coladas. I also think it is reasonably priced. Yes, there are a lot of older people that come there but I really don't care. I came there to get a drink and eat. I had a veggie burger and fries. My food tasted good. The only drink I have ordered there is a pina colada and I thought it was tasty. Perhaps I will eventually try something else. As far as the people that worked there everyone seemed pleasant. They have a good sized menu with a variety of appetizers, food, drinks and desserts. They have regular tables as well as seats at either an inside or outdoor bar with a view of the water.

Let me first start by saying that I have been patronizing this establishment for years. As I type this my favorite song just came on their radio...this might bump them to a 5th start by the time I am done typing. So back to Banana Boat....first off I read a lot of "reviews" from one and done diners. Being an experienced Yelper I am bothered by people who have no friends on here and join just to leave a bad review because of an isolated experience. I have had a bad meal at The Capital Grille but I wouldn't give them a 1 start review because of it. Regardless Banana Boat has been a place I have frequented for about 10 years now. The staff is VERY friendly contrary to what the one and done'ers will lead you to believe. I have become friends with many of their employees over the years and they are very attentive. They serve my FAVORITE local beer Due South Category 3 IPA. Not many local establishments serve local beer. +1 point for Banana Boat. Their burgers are fantastic. Fresh ground sirloin and they are big and priced right. My favorite is the Hangover Burger that comes with a fried egg, bacon, and cheese. The ribs are killer. Another top 5 song of mine just came on (I have not been here in roughly two years so I don't know the playlist). 5th star achievement BOOM. Go during happy hour their prices are amazing. Their ITB is the best around its 40% off drinks for industry people and the bartenders pour like they hate the owner and it's every day all day. No one can touch that. This place isn't "fine dining" nor do they pretend to be. They have a dock. Sweaty fishermen get off of their boats and drink here. They serve fish and meat and serve drinks with great pours and they are on the water. If you don't have a good time here you probably don't have a good time anywhere. Have a drink, look at the water, and ENJOY LIFE at the Banana Boat. All the crabby people that join Yelp just to leave a bad review should stay in New York for the winter and leave us alone. Sit at the bar on Friday and ask for Tanya. You will have a great time. BOOM!

It was my first time patronizing this restaurant only because my visiting aunt wanted to try it. I cringed at the thought because the locals here don't even like this place either, but I hadn't been here before so I gave them a try. It's mediocre on the inside and outside. The whole time we were there, my aunt realized that she should have gone with my suggestion to visit 2 Georges that was right across the docking. Too late. We already ordered our lunches and the long menu was just all over the place as they had everything from Greek to Mexican, Asian to seafood.... Just pick a genre and STICK WITH IT!!!!! That really made me question ordering anything from this menu. However, I ended up with the pecan crusted tilapia with a side of green beans and fresh fruit. I've had way better and I think I ate a couple of bones or maybe shells from the pecans. I don't know. I ain't coming back. 2 Georges is way better with their atmosphere and has a proper and brief menu full of seafood and not the "around the world" confusion.

Even if it's raining, you should go to Banana Boat! We sat outside, where we were able to watch the boats go by. Our table ordered three appetizers- oysters, baked clams casino, and the conch fritters. I personally didn't like the taste of the fritters, but everything else was good. The appetizers also arrived super quick! For our meals, 2 of us ordered the broiled seafood platter. That had so much food! Three types of broiled fish (white fish, shrimp, and scallops), and mashed potatoes as a side! yum! I couldn't finish it all! The other 2 people got the seafood pasta, which they loved! It was full of big shrimp and scallops. For dessert, I split the Godiva chocolate mousse cake. It was so rich and yummy! The others ate the bananas foster and the chocolate sundae. This was a great meal!

Thought i would try something new, what a mistake. If you are under 65 you are in the minority. Our server, not to he named, couldn't suggest anything better than a daiquiri. My mojito, over powered with sugar, very little mint (for the price you would think it would at least be over 10 ounces). The drink glasses bring me back to my younger years at a corner bar, everything is just dated. Food was good portions, my fish taco was a little dry rice and beans bland. Unfortunately as soon as we got our food, table next to us all lit up cigarettes of course we were down wind. We could barely finish our food, let alone a drink. All I got from the manager was we do allow smoking on the patio. Complete DISSAPPOINTMENT and wouldn't waste another penny there!

Before I got here I was a little cautious because of some reviews. My 87 yr old uncle and his girlfriend live nearby so I had to take their word. She said we'd have have ambience and we had enough deli meals in Delray and Boca for a while. We were seated on the dock on the water and it right away was wonderful. The view and people watching are 5 and the server was excellent. I had a seafood cobb which was very good and huge. My brothers girlfriend had a swordfish dish on top of sweet potato hash and said it was delicious. Uncle had the burger and fries and he enjoyed it with a cold beer. Bro had the coconut shrimp salad which he enjoyed but looked just ok to me. We saw some desserts go by and they looked impressive. I agree with other reviewers. Don't be a hater! This place is not fine dining but you can experience South Florida relaxing on the intracoastal watching the boats go by and getting take care of by nice people. They totally accommodated all our needs and it wasn't boiling in the sun

Please know that the average age here may be 70. But for all that they have a popular happy hour and good menu. Valet parking. I had the crab stuffed tilapia. Well prepared and tasty. If you come for the happy hour, come early, the bar fills quickly.

I love the food, the restaurant is slight confusing for seating, the girls that are the servers are quite rude. If your looking for a loud drunken atmosphere this is the place for you, the wings are great, I love their hangover burger, the calamari and shrimp are awesome, it's a nice view right on the water. It's a great place to watch football games or any other kind of sporting event.

Horrible experience. Never again. Saturday night, waited 30 minutes to be called, 25 minutes before getting a soda, 50 minutes before food arrived, server rarely helped and didn't ask how things were. My 4 shrimp were tough and really required strength to bite through (overcooked and probably old). My salad had penis shaped slices of pineapple and mango, dry and obviously took no effort whatsoever to put together. Should have been chopped and the fruit can mesh together flavoring the greens. I have never, once, seen a salad served in this manner before. Giving zero star is not an option so Banana Boat gets 1 star. What a waste of my time, not worth the $16 that's for sure.

Great food, great drinks (love the dirty banana,) great staff! Not to mention great ambience... when I arrived here I'd come from down the street from a horrible experience, but ended my night on a great note. Highly recommend, like I said, delicious food and very tasty drinks. A+!! And I found out they have live music on the weekends...

Pretty cool view although the water is not as blue as the ocean. I thought this was a beachfront restaurant since it's right next to the beach, not a lake or pond. I ordered the seafood crepes and I give it three thumbs down. The burgers look good though and I must admit the service was great. Come to think of it you have a better view looking at the girls working there than the water. Not sure if I'll be going back.

I went there for Happy Hour today. Sat at the bar for ten minutes no one waited on me. Walked out. Every time I try this place I've either bad service or sub par food. Never again.

ha. I would NEVER DINE HERE AGAIN nor will i ever recommend this place. The entire dining experience was absolutely DISGUSTING! Key Points to keep in mind before deciding to "dine"(correction: waste your time & money) at Banana Boat. 1. Initially walking in, the hostess barely spoke, and left our entire party behind, only to guess in what direction she may have went. 2. The table was dirty, covered in salt and used napkins. As well as 4-6 FLIES/BUGS accompanied during the entire dining experience. 3. Our waitress was unbelievable RUDE! Never mentioned her name nor shown any sense of hospitality, and rushed the entire dining party to place their order with attitude as if we were wasting her time, every request made had to be asked twice & she rolled her eyes so many times i swore they were going to get stuck at some point. When she cleared the table, it were dishes that a guest was still eating, but yet left a pile of dirty dishes on the table for nearly 30 minutes even after asking for her to take them away. 4. The women's attire was absolutely TRASHY in comparison to the men. Bras, stomachs, and half an ass cheek all revealed.. In combination with the b*tchy attitude given, i nearly lost my temper. 5. The menu is soo unbelievably OVER PRICED for the food being HORRIBLE! our dining party ordered a wide selection from the menu, but every single dish was either, dry, over seasoned, under seasoned, or just not even worth eating. Save your money, you can probably cook the entire menu a lot better in the comforts in your own home, without the bugs, and an attitude of a disrespectful woman.

My sister prefers this place to Two Georges across the way, and I agree but only for the Happy Hour and bar atmosphere. I've not had a good meal here and actually that's okay. I stopped trying to fight it and just go with the whole point of the place - a perfect spot for early drinks with snowbird friends or after work crowd. Get a stool by 4pm, order 2-3 drinks, you won't even spend $20! Then head off to another spot for a decent cheap meal, those places are plentiful on Dixie. For an extremely affordable, dockside, open air, waterview Happy Hour, this place can't be beat! Fun eclectic happy crowd.

They have happy hour 4-7pm, nice variety no big savings but hey you are on the intercostal! Attentive knowledgeable servers. PuPu platter is basically a sampler platter but nice variety wings, conch fritters, shrimp, ribs...keeper. Go for the seafood crepes if you like comfort food; lovely;pair with the Reisling-at Michelle...salads are plentiful. Heaters on the deck make for a comfortable evening in Jan!!!

Food was average at best. Service was sub-par. Went for dinner. Was seated at 6:30. Took about 10 minutes for someone to take our beverage order. The server didn't come back for about 20 minutes to take our food order. There were 4 people and I was the only one who ordered a soup. The soup came out at about 7:20. Our main courses were late as well and the dinner salad I had ordered never came, nor did my side dish order which was not delivered with my main course. Dinner including dessert took 2 1/2 hours from the time of seating which was entirely too long. The place is also extremely noisy. There are many other restaurants of this type within easy driving distance. This place is nothing special.

Happy hour specials are a great deal. Had crab stuffed shrimp, only 3 shrimp though. Friends had coconut shrimp and tenderloin skewers both ample and delicious. Tiffany was our waitress and she was very attentive. Come here at least once every time I'm down in florida.

And then comes the bill and walaa Overcharged - double up for drinks - I ques each Waitres came charge us for same Drink ,thank god it was no alcoholic drinks - lol they were really nice but when I ask why I'm paying for refills on the water and sprite $5 - well - oops! This is the only restaurant where I've walked out.......soooo angry! Service was beyond pathetic as there was only 1 other couple at the bar, the bartender was cleaning up and not paying attention to us, when he finally came over after maybe 10 minutes I asked him a question about a drink, he made a snide comment to me (never answering my question) then said, I'll take your order when you're ready, after waiting again...long enough.... I walked out expressing my frustration at his rude and neglectful behavior. I would never go back to a place where customers are treated like this. No intercoastal view can make up for this! Management, train your staff

WORST experience. As a server / bartender I have come here several times and I have never had a problem getting in the biz discounts. That's besides the point not one bartender informed us of their name. It was difficult to receive attention for another drink or to inform them my meal wasn't correct and didn't taste well. One bartender got up from eating his meal at the end of the bar we were sitting at to take our plates. Didn't ask how our meals were or if I wanted a box since I didn't eat ANY of my meal. Sat back down to finish his meal while the other bartender greeted friends of hers and didn't give us any attention. We had to stop the male bartender and ask for our check because he was done eating and tossing his plates. Needles to say it wasn't work the $75 and I will probably never return.

What a poor excuse for a resturant. The ONLY thing going for it is that it is on the intracoastal, but that does not excuse the pathetic operation. One hour to get a glass of water, gave up waiting for a beer and got one directly from the bar. In saying that, no draft beer, which is usually 16 oz, but only a 12 oz bottle for an inflated price of $4.77. Food when it eventually came was average at best. Bannana Boat, get your act together and stop depending on one time tourists who will not return. The worst resturant I have experienced in a long time. It will do well because naive tourists will go there not knowing. Me and my 8 friends, NEVER again.

Dad and I went and sat at the out side bar. The weather was beautiful. Derrick was our server. He kept our drinks full and was on top of it. Suggested the philly cheese steak, they were good, not as fantastic as I hoped but still pretty good. Can't wait to go back!

Omg...never go back again. Is the first time we had so unprofessional service. Asked a table for 4 outside, but a chair was missing and the hostes she didnt even care and she just turned her back and let us to looikng to find one.the waitress,i think Michelle, came she brought our drinks and when i ask no ice she took my glass and she never brought it back.i ask my salad to be chopped "we cant do it", my friends asked for a bitcher with water "we can't do it".all our requests denied without any explanation. How about Customers satisfaction? the food was less than average, the combo plate with the seafood was expensive, small and tasteless, the drinks are so light u barely taste the alcohol.the waitress never came to check on us,if we need anything or if everything was okay with the food, instead of this she left and we got another waitress, which she was keep coming over and over again trying to throw us out and giving us rude face all night long(a blonde one with the tattoo, she never introduce herself.).the young couple next to us they left cause the waitress was delayed to take the order. The management i guess doesn't care so much. Of course we didnt want to give her tips but only a few cents.she ran in the parking line to find me and asked the whole amount for the check (i still need $0,37 for the check, she said)i smiled cause i should knew that she cant even count her own money (i gave her $54 and the check was $53,37).which criteria you use to hire your servers??really??im not interested about her tiny shirt or short.to earn your tips you need to work and be professional. You just ruined our night .

I wish there was an option for zero stars. As a senior citizen and marine veteran of the Korean War, to be treated with such disrespect by the arrogant manager made our decision to leave and go elsewhere very easy. I will also make sure that all my friends and family are made aware of this situation and we will never return here again! Just so happens that the food and ambience are much better at Two Georges anyway!!

Poor customer service by the inexcusably Rude female bartender. The band we came to see, The Flyers, was great but the unfortunate behavior of the bartender left a very bad taste in our mouths. Perhaps the Mahi Slider ordered but never received would have helped but after 40 minutes we still didn't eat. Two George's is as busy and busier on these nice Sunday ( or Saturday) afternoons yet the very busy staff is efficient and courteous despite the noisy crowds

This is usually one of my favorite laid back places to eat on the intercoastal. Never had a problem. Service was always superb, But tonight! I dont know of people were in a bad mood because of whatever. Never have I ( or my friend) been spoken to in such an unprofessional manner! And then to have the manager, Kelly, come over with an " I don't care" attitude. As the manager she should've asked what transpired. She should've at least offered her services to rectify the situation. Nope! She did absolutely nothing but take our food a away! I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!

Quintessential South Florida. Directly on the intracoastal. No reservations available but we came early and got a table on the side directly across from the marina. The early bird special was too good to pass up (before 5:30). They don't advertise the early bird too much as we had no idea about it until we got there. Coconut shrimp and talapia were both very good and for 11 bucks a great deal. Sit back, enjoy the view, Its Florida!

Food wasn't very good outside bars Musical Entertainment was way to loud couldn't carry on conversation. They staff were moderately attentive but no uniforms to tell patron to employee! The food took way to long to obtain for such a small burger and spinach dip. All together we spent $60.00 for 2 persons with 4 drinks.

I loved this place & I really miss being able to feel comfortable about coming here, eating & drinking here. Especially at the outside bar. Last I was here, one of the barmaids outside, was talking very loudly about how she needed to make some money off these (customers). She was also very rude to a woman whom was inquiring about in the biz. I have not been back for years due to that. This barmaid, Michele or Kim or some similar & popular name....even had one of her regulars ( a truck driver old guy ) ridicule this nice woman also, along w/ her & he was getting the in the biz discount from this mean barmaid. We keep waiting for Miss Evil barkeep to go bye bye

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Banana Boat. The four of us devoured our calamari appetizer. It was tender, lightly breaded and well seasoned. One of us had the grouper special. It was a good sized serving and cooked perfectly. Our chef friend enjoyed the pu pu appetizer platter. The ribs and wings were meaty and tender. The conch fritters left a lot to be desired but otherwise he enjoyed the selections. The third person had coconut shrimp. They were fresh and tender. I am not a seafood eater so the flat iron steak was my choice. It was a perfect medium rare, tender and no waste. Three of us opted for the sweet potato fries which were not greasy and cooked just right. Two people had green beans which they bragged about. The key lime pie presentation was perfect and a nice finish to a memorable dinner.

I only went to Banana boat because I was disrespected on my birthday at two George's! Banana boat was so much better! The food was great and the service was on point! She even surprised me with birthday sweet! I recommend this place over two Georges any day!!!! I will be back!!

Visiting my parents for the weekend. They said we HAD to go eat at Banana Boat for lunch. They are obsessed with the rib eye open faced steak sandwich. It was so good! I also had the steak and cheese. Excellent! Pierro our waiter was very friendly. My parents love him. Enjoyed my first ever Bloody Mary. More of a beer man but it was good. Sitting outside on a nice day is the way too go. Lots of boats cruising by. Loved it!

Originally, I wanted to write a review for this place the second I got home from here on Sunday. I was fuming mad, and thought I might want to give myself a chance to calm down. Turns out that waiting was unnecessary... I'm just as angry now as I was that night. Why, you ask? Before I ever even got out of my car, I unfortunately encountered a very unpleasant employee of Banana Boat, who so infuriated me that I wanted to turn right around and leave. If it wasn't for the fact that I was meeting up with my family (including my cousin who is visiting on leave from the Navy), I would have done just that. I drove up here on Sunday evening, and as I pulled into the parking lot, there was a small line of cars, each driving past a man standing next to a sign that says "Valet Parking Only From This Point." Well, I can read, and I don't need to waste my time (or his) by rolling down the window so he can tell me what the sign says. So I proceed to very slowly drive past him. He stops me. I roll down my window and say, "Yes?" He replies in what was quite possibly the snobbiest tone of voice I've ever heard uttered from someone in customer service (and that's saying something, considering I used to work in Boca), "Okay, you can drop the attitude." Needless to say, I was shocked he was speaking to me like that. I literally said ONE word. After telling me that I had an attitude problem, he continued, "It's valet parking only from here," (yes, thank you, genius, I can read) and "the wait is over an hour." Fine, I get it, you've probably had people valet their cars only to get frustrated and leave due to the waiting time. Even so, you don't have to be a jackass to a customer who, for one thing, did absolutely NOTHING wrong except to be unfortunate enough to be in your presence, and for another thing, is about to go in and, you know, help pay for your wages. I say, "Okay." He then says, in a voice absolutely dripping with sarcasm, "You have a WONDERFUL day." Quite frankly, several things went through my mind at that moment: 1) I wanted to curse him out... I refrained. 2) I wanted to go bowling for valets with my car... I refrained. 3) I wanted to tell him that he just cost the restaurant a lot of money and turn around to go to an establishment that would treat its customers with respect... again, if I hadn't been meeting up with a large party (including seeing my cousin one last time on her leave), I would have done exactly that. So I grit my teeth and drove away from him, and hoped to high heavens that he wouldn't be the one fetching my car later (for both of our sakes). Once inside, the situation improved... but honestly, not by much. It was hard to get our waitress's attention, and the food itself was overpriced and mediocre at best. The only highlight of the evening was listening to the band (called The People Upstairs) play outside on the patio. If not for the valet attendant from hell, I would still probably come back here, if only because of the great view and live music. But I cannot in good faith frequent a restaurant that allows its employees to treat its customers with such disrespect. I sincerely hope the management figures out a way to hire employees who can be better representatives of their restaurant.

Went for dinner Sunday 3/1, will never go back. Our waitress was argumentative and rude. Brought the wrong soda, the food was not even close to as describe. I ordered quiche with lobster, there was maybe a piece of lobster the size of my pinkie nail. The rest was onions. If your looking for a place like hooters check this place out, you can see right thru the waitresses shorts if you can call a bandage of fabric shorts. The management needs to start over. New staff, kitchen and training.

Came up and just sat ourselves outside for lunch and we honestly enjoyed our meals. Our waitress kept our drinks full and we also enjoyed the location. Not somewhere I plan to go as a regular but I'm sure we will be back. We skipped the valet parking for free parking in a garage nearby and we walked just a couple of minutes. I would recommend mainly for the view and take note we went at just after 11am on a saturday. We found the service to be very good.

Advertise happy hour and no real happy hour. Seated 2 feet from bar and no happy hour. No prices on drinks. When asked about prices of drinks we were told the prices vary. Waiting for service! Food ok, we liked fish tacos coconut shrimp. $6 beer is $4 on happy hour, drink prices for happy hour vague.

Bartender was extremely rude and apparently, hard of hearing. Made us close out when we were ready to be seated...but THANK GOD! Charged us $39 for 3 drinks! Asked to speak to the manager and he said if we didn't pay the tab he would call the police and say we walked out on it!?!? We were standing there! He took the "hard of hearing" drink off, but tried to be sneaky and add part of it onto the tab saying, " that's the charge for a regular one." SERIOUSLY?? Do you think we would stay in your establishment after that inept attempt at customer service? He had a little troll right by his side...makes me think this happens A LOT! Left and went across the canal to TWO GEORGES. Definitely where we should have gone in the first place! MUCH FRIENDLIER staff-FANTASTIC BAND! We enjoyed our time seated outdoors-watching the "clueless" across the canal.

The food is ok here. It has been consistent with each of our visits. Out of towners like it as its on the water and you can watch boats go by or arrive for a meal. Tonight we sat outside near the water and a little mouse came wandering around. A couple of women were standing on chairs! The wait staff just said hey we are on the water it happens. Other then the mouse the band was very good and some people were up dancing.

A casual dining restaurant on the water with a large outdoor area. Staff were helpful and quick.. Food was very good and very fair prices. There lots of older people and people who needed assistance walking. I don't care about that. It was actually nice to see how helpful they were to those people. Food was good.

The Banana Boat perpetuates my theory that almost all oceanfront restaurants suck. The service is always spotty. The food is atrocious and the prices are usually outrageous. You're paying for the view and you get a decent one at that, but that's it. I've been here twice and the first time we had a bunch of appetizers that tasted like Mrs. Paul's but with extra freezer burn. The other time I ordered the fish tacos, they were ehhh. You can go but expect a dump on a dock with plenty of mediocrity about to happen.

• Andrew N.

This place is in a great location. The menu is decent as well as the prices. I was a group of 3 and we arrived at around 3pm so it wasn't busy at all. We waited about 40 minutes for our food. If it wasn't for the beautiful view, then this trip to Banana Boat would've been a total loss.

This place is ridiculously over priced! Being in the business 15 years I know what constitutes as a great bar! We went there for a few cocktails and appetizers ended up with a 180 tab and not satisfied at all with the drinks or food! The bartenders at the outside bar Friday night a blonde old lady and geeky looking guy with big glasses were the rudest bartenders I have ever encountered not only were the drinks weak they tasted horrific they only talked to there regulars and very rarely actually looked over to refill our drinks without us asking. I can almost forgive the food because of the location and they do have a cool band on Fridays but I will never excuse poor customer service. The blonde old lady serving us drinks refilled her shots she was taking every 5 minutes but when it came to her new clients she didn't even look over and the other bartender was very cocky arrogant jerk I will never come back here basically because of these two a##holes.

Avoid lobster specials, very small portions. The lazy man had two small pieces of fish, our group stopped at another restaurant for food after leaving the Banana boat.

Worst meal we have had in a long time. Conch fritters for an appetizer, coconut shrimp and stuffed shrimp as our entrees. Nothing was gross but none of it was good either. Would never eat here again.

Manager and server were rude to my sister because my two year old nephew spilled $3.00 worth of salt on the table. The server stated, "those salt shakers cost three dollars." The manager said, "a mother should bring something to occupy her children." Put the salt on the bill and shut the hell up. We will not return when we visit our grandmother again.

Come back after few monts hoping it's going to be better- NOT . Valet parking attendant nice - ok,come inside - hmm you have to wait we don't have enough waitresses tonite- ok 25 minutes later sitting . Food not so bad but overpriced but maybe because it's on the waterfront lol.Waitreses changing for some reason like 3 coming and going what is weird because we were waiting on Wednesday nite over 25 minutes because not enough waitresses but empty tables! And then comes the bill and walaa Overcharged - double up for drinks - I ques each Waitres came charge us for same Drink ,thank god it was no alcoholic drinks - lol they were really nice but when I ask why I'm paying for refills on the water and sprite $5 - well - oops! Hmmm Maybe if I was drinking alcohol ,maybe I wouldn't noticed??? Hmmm not really!!!this is not firs time happening , so what I'm saying- Beware!!

• Sharon W.

This place is in a great location. The menu is decent as well as the prices. I was a group of 3 and we arrived at around 3pm so it wasn't busy at all. We waited about 40 minutes for our food. If it wasn't for the beautiful view, then this trip to Banana Boat would've been a total loss.

Nothing special. Nothing horrible. Good views on the water. Not much else. This place has been here forever. Time for a major facelift. Heck, most of the customers have one.

Food is acceptable, with a nice variety. Often needlessly loud. They're ok with sitting infants next to smokers. When we ask them to reseat us, they have us go back to the hostess, but they did reseat us quickly. Under a speaker...

• Esty F.

Was prepared for mediocrity but the crab encrusted snapper is great!

• Geoffrey K.

• John L.

This place is terrible. There's an annoying valet parking lot. Everything is overpriced. It gets crowded with "bro" types. The only thing it has going for it is it's on the water. But then you're on the water dealing with a crowd of bro's. Dreadful.

I must have been here on an off night (Thanksgiving). The outside area was closed off leaving Eli & I to sit with the less than friendly locals in the main bar area. So much for ambiance. The drinks were strong and priced fairly. We didn't eat here, but rumor has it the food tries to be gourmet (Beef Wellington was the special that night) but fails to titillate a knowledgeable pallet.

this is a restaurant where the food plays second fiddle to the ambiance and view.
